Nathalie and Roman with Indira (from 10.07.18):

My brother and I met in Meiringen at the station, where we also parked the cars and from there we walked towards Engstlenalp and Jochpass. At the beginning the path is rather easy and characterized by forest, green meadows and waterfalls. The gradients gradually increase and the path becomes a bit narrower on the way to the Gental. Surefootedness is required, but also with dog well feasible. We hike a longer part on the tarred road (which leads to Engstlenalp) through the beautiful Gental. A little later the trail leads partly over pastures with curious cows. For those who find it too dangerous to walk with a dog, the best way is to continue on the road.
At the top of Engstlenalp we take another break at the hotel / restaurant for refreshments. Continuing on the way towards Jochpass, we pass the Engstlensee, which invites us to stay and have a swim. Since the hotel is also accessible by car, it is rather busy at the weekends. We go on.....
At the top of the Jochpass we move into our room in the "Bärghuis". The people are very friendly, delicious food and dogs are welcome, also in the dining room.
The next morning, after a great breakfast, we set off on the "Via Alpina Route" to Engelberg. At the beautiful Trübsee we have another break before we start our descent into the valley (also possible by gondola). From there, we take the train and return to Meiringen. On the whole hiking route there are always places where the dog can refresh itself. Nevertheless pack enough water. Good footwear, possibly walking sticks are an advantage.
