Natalja and Fabian with Bailey and Jimmy (from 20.10.18):

Already the gondola ascent from Tierfehd to Chalchrittli is breathtaking. The ascent is very steep and you quickly get the feeling of being in an elevator. (By the way, one can also take a hiking trail, only that one has to walk up for about 8 hours and overcome 1000 height meters). The tickets cost 15 CHF (there and back) and the dogs were allowed to travel for free. Arrived at the top we had 2 possibilities: Either to walk over the tunnel to the lake (about 30 min) or via Muttseehütte, whereby on the way to the latter there is a breathtaking view of the Linthal, the Fisetengrat and the Clariden.

We have chosen the path through the 3 km long tunnel, which leads directly to the Limmernsee and the dam. On the way there, we spent most of the time completely alone in the tunnel, which was sometimes quite "creepy", especially when we suddenly noticed movement in the distant darkness. But in the end there were "only" 2 more hikers on their way back to the station. Both paths form a kind of circular walk, but it takes about 5-6 hours, with some very steep ascents and descents.

I don't have to describe the lake itself, the pictures already show the turquoise blue beauty. The Glarner Speichersee is embedded between the peaks of Kistenstöckli, Selbsanft and Muttenchopf and lies at an altitude of 1857 meters above sea level. Unfortunately, it is not possible to hike around the lake, but the brave will surely find a way down to the lake (attention, danger of slipping). After spending some time at the lake, we made our way to the Muttseehütte (SAC) (where you can stay overnight, by the way). The path was quite steep, so we had to take breaks more often. But it was no problem for us, the more beautiful because you could enjoy the view from above even more. All in all we found the trail to be medium difficult and not for the faint hearted. I was glad to have put on shoes with a good profile, because you slipped through the scree quite fast.

I would not recommend the walk for dogs that are not used to walking on boulders. The danger of slipping is too great. At unsafe places, where we had to hold on to the rope ourselves, we of course also put the dogs on a leash.

Because of time reasons (we spent too much time at the lake) we finally had to turn back and could not complete the round hike and therefore we also had to visit the Muttseehütte and the Muttsee itself, but this will surely not be the last time.
