Historic Route 268

Historic Route 268

History, vineyards, gastronomy: the Vully is a popular hiking destination. On the historic path through the smallest of the large Swiss wine-growing regions, you travel back to the beginnings of western Switzerland. You can enjoy the wonderful panorama of the Three Lakes Region, the Jura and the Alps.

Nathalie with Indira (from 08.12.19):

We start at the station Sugiez. The path crosses the Broye Canal and flows into a gentle slope full of vines, already in hibernation, which stretch up to the grottos of Lamberta. Up to there, you have a fantastic view over Lake Murten and the entire Alpine chain. At the grottos / caves begins for me, the real historical journey into the past, back to times of war. Indira and I explore the winding infantry - work and I am really impressed by the construction. We continue on our way and explore the many other fascinating buildings, up to the Celtic oppidum, which was built by the Celts around 124 BC and burned down by the Helvetians in 58 BC. Thanks to archaeological excavations, the oppidum could be reconstructed true to the original. The route is an experience for young and old. Cosy places invite you to stay again and again. Since we only left in the afternoon and it is already December, it was not so touristy. But I think, in summer on the weekends, rather not to recommend.
