Nathalie with Indira (from 30.10.20):

Today I would like to enjoy the wonderful autumn weather again with Indira and decide to do a round trip over the Moléson.

You can park right by the funicular in Moléson sur Gruyères. As I am rather a mountain walker, I skip the rides with gondola etc. if possible. Thus, our tour also starts right from the parking place.

After a short time, the route splits and we decide to continue straight ahead. Up to the middle station Plan-Francey, the path is wide, continuously ascending and well arranged. From here there are again 2 possibilities to reach the mountain.

Since I don't know either of them, I decided to take the right one. Also here the path is still wide and well developed. After a while, there is a steep, narrow, stony, loamy path over pastures which are no longer used. As the watering places are still intact and partly overflowing, the path may be a bit slippery in places, but with good hiking boots and sticks it is easily possible.

On the way I stop every now and then to enjoy the view in the warm, beautiful weather. Once at the top, a fantastic 360° panorama opens up, with far-reaching views over the Lake Geneva area, Gruyère and the Alps.

We take the small ascent to the summit under our feet and then have our lunch break there. Well strengthened we walk on the other side of the mountain on narrow paths back down towards Plan-Francey.

On the descent, I let Indira run free, because the path is also here in places rather loamy and wet. From Plan-Francey on I take the same way back to the parking lot.

It is recommended to start the route in the morning, because the tourismous increases around noon / afternoon. Up in the mountains there is no official line requirement. Nevertheless, please act according to the situation (possibly cows, breeding and setting time etc.).
