Anja Papenberg with Sammy (from 06.01.24):

Our winter hike took us directly from the Mostelberg mountain inn to the idyllic circular hiking trail around the Engelstock. The tour is 5.4 km long. Depending on how many photo breaks you take, it takes about 2 hours.

The view is really beautiful. There are about 200 meters of altitude to overcome, but this is easy to do. The circular route leads through fields, meadows and forest. There are a few cow gates. Hard to see through the snow. But you can walk around them.

On the way, we had the opportunity to stock up on homemade products at the Blüemlisberg goat farm.

Incidentally, there are lots of pubs here in summer, but they were closed at this time of year. There was also a fountain on the way, but we still recommend always having water with you for the dogs.

On the way back, we took a small detour to cross the Skywalk. An adventurous suspension bridge with a height of up to 58m and a length of 374m. Not for the faint-hearted. We recommend shoes for dogs, as the bars are very large and uncomfortable for their paws. A pair of shoes can be borrowed at the station for a deposit. Please note: the number is limited. A great service.

As it was already getting dark at the end of the route, we were able to take advantage of the lantern walk. In winter, the route is lined with lanterns, which creates a wonderfully romantic atmosphere. Afterwards, we treated ourselves to a fondue at the Mostelberg mountain inn. A great trip from start to finish. We felt very welcome, especially with the dogs, and would happily return.
