Central Switzerland boasts some of the most beautiful hiking routes. The one that is the most beautiful for us (and we also call it our "Hausrunde") is the wildlife observation path that leads from Niederbauen to the Stockhütte (or vice versa). A nice tip for early risers like us: the cable car even leaves at 07.00 am in summer! From the top station a comfortable path leads slowly uphill. Passing the paragliding launch site, where you can watch some pilots take off, the path continues towards Hundschopf. From there you can enjoy the wonderful panorama of the Vierwaldstädtersee. When you have seen enough of the lake, you can continue on the wildlife observation trail, which is slowly getting steeper. The ascent to the Fulberg requires some fitness, the steps have only recently been renewed, but there are still an infinite number of them ;) Once you have conquered them you have already reached the highest point of this hike, where you can take a break and enjoy the view.
From here it's a leisurely descent, through pastures, along small streams where the dogs can quench their thirst. On the way you will meet the ski lifts of the Klewenalp-Stockhütten ski region, which are waiting for their use in winter. In summer, however, you can hike past them, along the well-signposted wildlife observation path until you finally arrive at the top station of the Stockhütte. The mountain restaurant there is always good for a break, and of course dogs are also welcome. The hosts sometimes even have a dog biscuit in the bag. Those who have not had enough exercise until here can walk back to Emmetten. This leads along a tarred road with little traffic and over smaller forest paths back into the valley. If you want to save yourself this 1 hour descent, you can board the gondola in the Stockhütte and be back in Emmetten in a few minutes.
