Livia with Kaya (from 09.06.18):

With a slightly overcast sky we start this wonderful round hike about 400 meters below the Rasishütte.

The wide gravel path always leads us with a slight ascent along the most beautiful and diverse flora, which is favoured by the small biotopes. It takes about one hour to reach the Obersaum Alp (1510 m above sea level). There you have the possibility to refresh yourself with cool drinks by self-service. From here, a further uphill trail leads us through a herd of suckler cows and a little further up through a pasture where goats also enjoy the fantastic view. We stop for a short while and enjoy this wonderful view of the Muotathal and the surrounding mountains.

The Chalbertal has already arrived in the mountain spring and we enjoy the variety of gentians, flea flowers, globular flowers and alpine anemones. Good footwear is recommended and it is also always nice to stay on the marked hiking trail, because from Äbnenmatt the path goes over rocky ground. Consisting of Schratten limestone, the rock is decomposed and dissolved by rainwater, creating interesting surface shapes and also deep shafts (right next to the path).

The Alp Wolfsbüel is not yet managed and so we enjoy the absolute silence during our lunch break.

The last third of this hike leads through the Bödmerenwald, which I was looking forward to the whole time, jungle in Switzerland. First the path leads us past moor birches, not to forget the amazing view towards Hoch Ybrig. Deadwood, lichens and ferns as well as a dense spruce forest accompany us until shortly before the Mittenwald. From there we walk towards the Rasis hut again, where the path leads us back to the starting point (car park) (also possible by public transport with bus to Eigeliswald).

We followed the jungle path (well signposted), which takes about three hours. If you like, you can also follow the theme trail "Urwaldspur", which also takes about one hour on mountain trails.

I recommend the longer version from June or from the beginning of September, when it gets a bit cooler again. 2/3 of the route can be walked on open terrain and is not recommended on hot days.
