Reto and Tanja with Kesh (June 2020 - several times, because it was a great tour ;-)):

A wonderful hike in summer, because there are always cooling possibilities for the dog. The hike can also be extended to Sonceboz or through the Taubenlochschlucht gorge to Biel.

We always start in Frinvillier, which is easy to reach by public transport, but it also has public parking spaces. Most of the visitors go in direction to Biel through the Taubenlochschlucht, we go in the other direction, which is also not so much visited, but I find it more attractive.

First we follow the wild Suze river, surrounded by rocks and forest to Rondchâtel. Here you will find the former paper factory, built in 1882, which was closed down after a fire in 2002.

It is worthwhile to see the old buildings embedded in the gorge. More information: http://standseilbahnen.ch/rondchatel-papierfabrik.html

Continue towards Péry, left and right the Jura rocks with lots of green. The hiking trail leads right through the cement factory Vigier, I personally find it very impressive. Then we come to Reuchenette and the hiking trail goes up to a church, from where we have a beautiful view back to the canyon.

Continue to the ruins of Châtillon and through the village of Péry. At the end of the village, Kesh can cool off in Le Pichoux. The path continues along the edge of the forest and we always have a beautiful view into the valley.

In La Heutte we end our hike at the train station where there is again a bathing place in La Suze. There is an hourly train back to Frinvillier.
