Luca mit Blacky (from 29.06.18):

From the train station we come to the famous Chapel Bridge on the Reuss river with the Water Tower, the symbol of Lucerne. With wonderful weather, I and my 10 year old Mali hoped for shady and unpaved paths - luckily, this wish was completely fulfilled at 30 degrees.

The well-signposted Way of St. James leads us into the forest. Without much effort and in the protection of the thicket of the forest, we can start the path via the Renggschlucht gorge to the Kleinen-Emme.

Good footwear is recommended, as some descents can be quite slippery.

On the southern path along the banks of the Kleine Emme we reach Werthenstein from here in a westerly direction. 80% of the path is also very shady here, but this puts a damper on the joy of walking due to the lack of variety. Pleasant for my senior were always the small entrances into the Emme where he could cool down and cool down his paws.

Shortly before Werthenstein we see the monastery "Unsere lieben Frauen" (Our dear women) above a band of rocks, on the one hand very impressive and on the other hand a relief for us to know that we have reached this goal after a 6 hour walk and a 30 minute break.

After the descent from the church to the village Werthenstein we enjoyed the well-deserved lunch, visibly exhausted.

An exciting experience for me and my four-legged friend who was able to enjoy the hike mostly without a leash. But if you are looking for views and variety I think this part of the trail is not good for you.

Take a day to relax and take several breaks at the Emme river.
