Huttwil-Burgdorf

From Huttwil station we follow the Jakobsweg in the direction of Chaltenegg. The trail leads us through quarters and past a sawmill from the village of Huttwil. We hike along the edge of the forest and over meadows up the first hill to Chaltenegg. From there we follow the path towards Dürrenroth. Once there, we cross the railway station. Up one flight of stairs in the middle of the village Dürrenroth. There you will find two beautifully renovated inns and a drinking fountain. We follow the path out of the village along the forest towards Häusermoos and then towards Lueg. Arrived in Lueg I make a short detour to the "Lueg Monument". At the memorial you will find a beautifully situated resting place with a fireplace. With good visibility you can enjoy a wonderful view. It is worth to make this short detour up to the monument. After the short break I walked the short distance to the country inn Lueg. From there I took the bus to Burgdorf. However, it would be worth to walk the last part. This contains however partly steep sections.

Short summary: Nice hike with some ups and downs in hilly terrain. Some parts of the hike could be done by bus. Sturdy shoes and good physical condition are required for this hike.
