The colourful mixed "animal shelter- dog gang" started the Way of St. James in Frauenfeld with destination Tobel TG in slightly overcast hiking weather at the beginning. We left the capital of the Thurgau through the enchanting Mühletobel and followed the forest trail Mühletobel up to the Stählibuck tower where we made a short stop. It is worthwhile in any case to go up the 148 steps to the iron Stählbuckturm. This was built in 1907 and is 26.8m high on the upper platform. From there, on a clear day, you have a magnificent panoramic view over Frauenfeld, the Black Forest and the Alpstein to the Bernese mountains. After everyone had solid ground under their feet again, the journey continued down to Dingenhart and reached the hamlet of Chöll on forest and field paths. As the sun had come out in the meantime, the dogs found cooling in a stream at the wayside. From there we went on to the hamlet Sunnenberg from where we could already see the castle Sonnenberg. Very close by we took our lunch break. Well strengthened we continued on a winding adventurous forest path down to Kalthäusern and further to Weingarten. Here again there were cooling possibilities for the dogs. Already from far away we could see the church tower of St. Jakob. At the church of St. Jacob an agricultural road leads in eastern direction past a large field cross. Here we met a signpost for the Jakob's way. After Santiago there are still 2315 km to go, after Tobel only one more kilometre which was then also still managed. In Tobel (523m) we crossed the road Wil-Amlikon and found after 100 meters on the right side the grey Johanniter-Commandery. Today the KOMTUREIBEIZ is located there - a detour is worthwhile in any case. There you could review the hike again with a cool drink or ice cream. From there, we took the post bus back to Frauenfeld. A nice tour, technically not very demanding but you should have a good basic condition for the 18 km.
