Pius and Miriam with Gypsie and Mia (from 05.06.18):
Last night it rained quite heavily, so that this morning the tent as well as all our clothes are damp. Moreover, it is quite cool, because the sun is not yet shining up to our sleeping place. After a tasty breakfast we start today's stage at 08.30 am. On the forest road we walk uphill through the forest. After leaving the forest, the ascent ends and the open terrain offers a magnificent panorama that will accompany us for a large part of today's hike. Thus we look down to llanz, up the Vorderrheintal to Disentis and Oberalp. Likewise we already see our destination Andiast. The valley is still partly covered by white veils of mist, which is beautiful to look at. Meanwhile the sun is shining down on us and it is again unpleasantly humid.
In a slight up and down we approach the village Ladir, which we reach 20 minutes later. At the entrance of the village is the catholic parish church St. Zeno, which also offers a great view. From there, after a short, steep descent on a not very busy road, we reach the neighbouring village of Ruschein with its characteristic churches. It lies dreamily embedded in a depression.
With about 21.5 km and several ascents and descents totalling 1,800 metres in altitude, today's stage was long and strenuous in these muggy weather conditions. Fortunately, we and the dogs were able to cool down regularly in the streams, village wells and the reservoir.
